Co-Founder

Rodney L. Holliday II is a coach, mentor, youth advocate, and Co-Founder of TDOAT Beyond the Game, a Las Vegas-based 501(c)(3) youth development nonprofit dedicated to helping young people rise beyond the circumstances they were born into.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Rodney's relationship with basketball began long before TDOAT Beyond the Game. He attended Pike High School from 2002–2006, where he was part of the school's 2002–2003 State Championship program. He continued his basketball career at Anderson University from 2006–2010, earning HCAC Freshman of the Year honors. But basketball eventually became much more than a sport for Rodney. It became a way to teach, mentor, connect, and create opportunities for young people.

Rodney entered the coaching ranks at Cimarron-Memorial High School in Las Vegas, serving as a Women's Varsity Basketball Coach from 2017–2019 before coaching the Men's Varsity program from 2019–2020. He later became the owner of Las Vegas X-Factor (LVXF), an AAU men's basketball program he operated from 2020–2023.

Throughout his basketball journey, Rodney has had the opportunity to work with and train athletes including Mike Conley, Jordan Farmar, Tony Perkins, Sheldon Edwards, Tylen Riley, and Sean Clancey. Yet for Rodney, his greatest source of pride has never been the names, accolades, or accomplishments. It has been the young people who simply needed someone to show up for them. Long before there was a nonprofit organization or a permanent facility, Rodney trained young athletes for free wherever he could find space—in borrowed church gyms, back gyms, outdoor courts, and backyards. If there was a basketball, a hoop, and a young person willing to learn, Rodney was willing to teach.

Those experiences shaped the philosophy behind TDOAT Beyond the Game.

Rodney believes that talent exists everywhere, but access, mentorship, exposure, resources, and opportunity do not. He has seen firsthand how much potential can exist inside a young person who simply has not yet been given the environment, guidance, or opportunities necessary to discover it.

For him, basketball is the entry point— not the destination.

Through TDOAT Beyond the Game, Rodney's goal is to help develop the whole young person. Athletics can teach discipline, teamwork, resilience, and accountability, but young people also need academic support, wellness, mentorship, creative opportunities, career exposure, life skills, and experiences that expand their understanding of what is possible. His work is rooted in a simple belief: Young people cannot pursue possibilities they have never been exposed to.

Rodney wants young people to experience more than the environment directly around them. He wants them to visit colleges, enter professional workplaces, discover creative careers, learn financial literacy, explore entrepreneurship, experience new communities, develop healthy habits, build meaningful relationships with mentors, and begin imagining futures they may never have considered before.

That vision extends far beyond basketball.

Rodney and TDOAT Beyond the Game are working toward establishing a permanent youth development center in Las Vegas—a place where young people can learn, train, create, explore, heal, compete, connect, and discover their potential in a safe and supportive environment.

For Rodney, that facility would represent more than a building. It would be a home base for young people who need consistency, mentorship, community, and opportunity.

His mission is not simply to produce better basketball players.

It is to help develop confident students, disciplined athletes, responsible young adults, future professionals, leaders, fathers, entrepreneurs, creators, and community builders.

At the heart of everything Rodney does is the same commitment that once led him to open empty gyms and train kids for free:

Show up. Give them somewhere to belong. Expose them to what is possible. And help them become more.

Your contribution does more than support basketball

You help us create experiences that teach our players:

How to compete.

How to lead.

How to communicate.

How to handle adversity.

How to prioritize education.

How to represent something bigger than themselves.

And how to prepare for life after basketball.

A young person cannot pursue an opportunity they have never been exposed to:

A camera can reveal a career.

A music studio can reveal a talent.

A college visit can change an expectation.

A basketball can create a relationship.

A mentor can change a decision.

A safe place can change the direction of a life.

Exposure changes perspective.

Perspective changes decisions.

Decisions change trajectories.

We want young people to understand the realities around them without letting those realities determine the limits of their future.
